I am working on FINALLY finishing my very first quilt. I bought fusible batting to try. Has anyone got any opinions about fusible batting? Should I still pin around the outside? Does it last/stick for months and months? Is there anything I should know?
Now I plan to mark on this quilt I know I have to do this AFTER it is put together with the fusible batting but is it hard to mark after it is all sandwiched together? Should I NOT use the fusible?

Honestly I find that the fusible doesn't stick as well. I like to use 505 basting spray..that stuff works well and it washes out.
Go ahead and use the fusible that you have because you already paid for it....you just may have to add some pins to keep it basted.
MArk on your quilt after you have it sandwiched..it isn't hard ....I use a chalk pencil it works great!

I have not had good luck with the fusible batting either... I am much happier with the spray and a few pins around the edges :D:D:D

I used fusible for some large baby quilts and I loved it. I did use pins about a foot apart. I don't think I needed them but I wanted to know if the top or bottom was shifting any and the pins would be the way to know. I quilted them within a week of when I put it together so I don't know how long it will stay ready to sew.

You might just try using it and if you aren't happy, fold it back up and use for other projects.

I don't care for the fusible batting. Perhaps it would be nice for small projects, but my quilts tend to be larger. I bought the fusible for a project, but ended up throwing it out and using usual cotton batt and pinning.

Thanks CindyBee. I will keep this in mind. I'm thinking now of just using it for practice sandwiches, wall hangings and other little diddies. :)

I use fusible only on my quilty projects like purses and bags and nick nacks. On a big quilt I use 100% cotton and pin it. But that's just me.
