I am brand new to quilting, but I am loving it. I am considering buying the Accuquilt Go fabric cutting Machine, but would like some input from you all.

I have the accuquilt go and I love it, especially for cutting my 2 1/2 strips. If you do a search here, you will find a lot of the members who also have one.

go to the search engine ( at the top of the page) and you will find many many posts about this

I bought one and wanted to love it but I didn't...I felt that I would have to buy the mats often because it cuts so deep. Also the dies are rather pricey...just my opinion.

I bought one about three years ago at full retail cost because I was tired of my hands, neck and back hurting after cutting fabric. I really enjoy it and use it for most all my quilt cuts. The mats last a long time, for me anyway. I am still using the same mats that came with my Go. I always move, angle, or scooch it a smidge to not cut in the same place. I buy the dies when I find a good sale. I'm excited when there are new dies to choose from. It's not for everyone but I'm sure glad it's for me.

if you are new, wait a while...first off, the accuquilt go is not the only system out there...so make sure you go to a show or two and test ALL the machines, compare costs, versatility, etc.
Second, being new to quilting, your tastes will change...what you enjoy doing today might not be what you enjoy next year...and a cutting system with dies is a HUGE investment and they are not easy to resell! |
I was hesitant. My Mama bought it for me because she thought it would help me for health reasons. I started to play with it here and there. Now, I am thankful for it. I love it and have less pain in my neck and shoulders.

I love it for cutting accurate strips. There is alot of waste in many of the dies. Depends on what you like to do.
If you are going to do alot of log cabins or quilt that take strips, baby quilts or applique I would think it would be worth it. |
