Acrylic extension table
 

When I upgraded to a new Pfaff machine, my acrylic extension table doesn't fit. I would like to find someone who can cut the hole to slide over my new machine, but don't know where to start looking. Does anyone have any experience with "re-sizing" an acrylic extension table to a different machine?

You can try a Glass Shop......if you can take the machine with the table that would help.....get an estimate first as it could cost more than you want to pay. The tables are made out of Lexan which is stronger and pretty much unbreakable.....BUT there is always a chance it could break.....and most Glass shops "won't" be responsible if it breaks and will ask you to sign a waver. Some shops charge depending on how much they have to cut down and then it has to be sanded smooth. All you can do is go ask....and it is best if you ask in person instead of over the phone so they can see what you need done.

We used to have a Glass Shop and the guy's cut acrylic often.

Why not just order a new one that fits precisely?

I bought plexiglas at Lowe's & my DH cut the hole & countersunk screws that hole adjustable legs. He cut with a 'saber saw' , but the plexi edges melted cuz the saw was "fast". He says if he could have lowered the rpm's or had a metal cut blade, it would have been easier. But he did a fantastic job and I have less than $25 invested (labor was free!)

We have a local plastic company that will cut it our for anyone. That is how I got an extension table for my newer Pfaff ... by using the table from an older machine. I think it cost maybe $4. The edges are nice and smooth.

Check your local yellow pages ... or from a large city nearby and start calling.
