I want to JoAnne's today and purchased Dritz Spray Adhesive and used it for the first time.. Are you supposed to let it dry? It just seems slightly tacky... I'm just wondering if i need to go heavy on it or if it needs to dry. The directions are very vague.

I think you are supposed to let it set for a few minutes. I no longer use that brand. I use the 505, it smells better and I think it sticks better.
However Dritz spray is much much better than pin basting!!!!

The Dritz is ok, but I liked the June Tailor better. I haven't tried any other brands; I get what I can with a coupon at Joann's.

I spray it in a grid, probably 4-6 inches apart. Not too heavy. Spray the batting, not the fabric (at least that's what I was told). I fold the fabric 1/2 way back, spray a foot or so, smooth the fabric over it and continue until that 1/2 is done. Then I do the same on the other side. No need to wait between spraying and smoothing the fabric over it. After some handling on the machine, I sometimes re-spray the edges if it needs it. It holds pretty well...at least a few weeks in my experience.

It's so much faster than hand basting. And it's easier on my back because I'm spending less time hunched over it.

Good luck! :)

EDIT: Other brands may suggest to wait before spreading the fabric over it. I don't think it mentioned it on either one I've used. The print is so small, I only skim over the instructions. :)

I have never used Dritz so I can't say. I don't wait with mine and it works great.

I think it stays tacky for awhile in case you need to readjust the layering (e.g., you notice a wrinkle in the back). However, they all of the quilt adhesives dry completely over time, as you don't want tacky adhesive when you go to quilt .....
