Advice on fussy cutting
I would like to know the best way to fussy cut. I have fabric with colored dragons to make another quilt for my GS and need to cut each square so it has an entire dragon on it. I have not fussy cut anything and was wondering what would be the best method and the least wasteful. I'd appreciate any advice you could provide.

If you can find a clear template the size you are going to use that will work the easiest. That way you can see what you are cutting.

First I find a square ruler or template (I collect the things) that is larger than the figure that I want to fussy cut. Then I figure out the size that the block needs to be (remember that you will be sewing in 1/4" from the edge on each side). When I have a good idea of the size, I take a marking pen and outline the piece and then overcut around it with scissors. Then I cut it out using the rotary cutter on the drawn lines.
