I would like to make this 8 inch block into a 12 inch block. Can anyone help me with how to enlarge this pattern. It's from

http://www.quilterscache.com/S/SickleVariationBlock.html

I could increase it by 25% but wouldn't that would also include increasing the seam by 25%.

I've think I figured part of it out. The 2 1/2 x 10 changes to 3 1/2 x 14
The 1 1/2 x 12 changes to 2 x 16
Am I right?
But how do I change a 4 7/8 square? Would it become a 6 7/8 sq?

I've been trying to do the math and made some editing on my original post please reread it and tell me if I'm right or wrong.
Patrice I can hear you thinking, click click click.

i can't do it for a few hours yet. i took some so-called non-drowsy cold medicine. got me so stoned somebody else had to drive me home.

Debbie, that block is so pretty! Each of the sections (4-patch and half-triangle) work out to be 4" squares. You want them to be 6" squares, to add together to make a 12" block. Make your squares 6 and a half inches, to include the quarter-inch seams ...

OH MY GOD!!!!!!! I can hear everybody brain clicking away. Time to get out those old high school math books and dust them off.

Debbie,
You're right about the seams. I just spent time reducing a block. Subtract the seam allowance first. Adjust the size of the finished piece and then add the seam allowance back in.

I would guess the HST would be cut at 6 7/8". The squares at 3 1/2". The four patch squares at 2".

No guarantees. I've only had a half cup of coffee and it's only 8AM here.

oh, good. i'm glad somebody came to the rescue. now i can go back to sleep.

I thought that was it but I wanted someone else to tell me it was right before I started to cut. Thanks. And Patrice get off the computer and go to bed, right now. Mama has spoken.

Do a test run first! Don't cut into your good fabric until you're sure!

Don't ask how I know this! oops!

Patrice, you may as well go sleep it off! You'll feel better in the long run!
Take care now! Listen to Debbie!
