YES! Use the "American" prints. What a lovely thing to do.

I love Asian prints, and surely the reverse is true in Japan. There isn't anything wrong with letting them know the quilt came from America.

My thought also. If we were to receive a quilt from Japan, how would we feel receiving one made from Japanese prints. My guess is, most of us would first be overwhelmed by the generosity then look at the colors/patterns.

I was actually concerned about this myself, so I e-mailed an individual that's involved with this project and she stated color and such wasn't an issue.

I had about 20 quilts for sale and the FIRST ONE to sell was a cowboy themed quilt (here in Poland). Go figure.
