I'm going online now to see if I can find out what it is worth. I will need to replace the cord, its been chewed up by a critter and I'm not going to plug it up. Sparks would fly all over the place. When turning the wheel, it feels as smooth as butter. I'm sure it will run great when I get it fixed.

Wow, she's a beauty! congrats!!

TonnieLoree 04-30-2011 02:00 PM

The sparks would only fly if it was plugged in and you thought you could re-wire your pooch. Use some black electrical tape to take care of that temporarily until you can get new wiring.

dixiebelle162002 04-30-2011 02:39 PM

There are many more when you google "White Brand Sewing machine"

OmaForFour 05-01-2011 05:17 AM

I have a WHITE machine. It is just like this one and in the same color. They were made in Japan (I think by Singer) around 1945. YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE IT when you get the wiring fixed! It is a real workhorse. Also, did you notice on the front base that there is a knob so that you can raise and lower the feed dogs? It has 3 settings. This is really a pretty heavy duty sewing project machine. ENJOY IT!

Now that is a different color machine! I just found one that is a metalic gold like a gold car paint but it is the actual color of the machine as I looked it up online. Have fun fixing it up and sewing on it.

Debbie C 05-01-2011 06:27 AM

gorgeous - such a soothing color - hope it runs as good as it looks!

janedb 05-01-2011 06:28 AM

My daughet has one almost identical but the brand on it is Griest. She has had it for about 10 or 12 yrs now she is only 25 and does very little sewing. She just like it and bought it her self.It purrs like a kitten.

pbreon 05-01-2011 07:00 AM

Beautiful!!! This is a work-horse!!! It looks just like the one my Mom had only her's was green. I so remember sewing on this when I was a teenager!!! Now my younger sister owns it....
and uses it to this day...
What a great find!!!!

Katiequiltsalot 05-01-2011 07:00 AM

craftymatt2 05-01-2011 09:18 AM

Lucky you, I'm jealous, she's a beauty

Linda - K. 05-01-2011 09:22 AM

She looks like she's in wonderful condition. Hope you can find the cord and get her humming along!

LyndaK 05-01-2011 11:16 AM

Great Find! You know, the more I see of these older machines, the more I'm happy to own a few. All of my vintage machines, including the two treadles are operable and sew very well. I enjoy using them. Makes me wonder why I spent so much money for a modern machine......However, saying that, my main machine also does embroidery and that was the motivation for purchasing it. But for everyday sewing and quilting....give me a Singer 301, featherweight, or my 115 treadle, or my White VS treadle, or.......sad isn't it, this collection addiction:)

amma 05-01-2011 11:53 AM

What a beauty :D:D:D

madamekelly 05-01-2011 12:55 PM

This is the home version of my first machine. I had the industrial model. They are true work-horses. Enjoy!

gwena 05-01-2011 02:04 PM

Oh gosh...my Mom had a White for years, and made many outfits for a family of 8 on it. I learned to sew on a White. For a reliable stable machine you can't beat it.

AUQuilter 05-01-2011 02:26 PM

Very nice find! I am sure you will have some great times together.

annpryor 05-01-2011 03:07 PM

I think Janome machines are made by the White Co. but I could be wrong.

MamaBear61 05-01-2011 03:39 PM

That is a beautiful machine.

DonnaB 05-01-2011 04:02 PM

Nice find, I used to have one like that, loved it.

debbieoh 05-01-2011 04:09 PM

Never seen one like that. LOVE IT!!!
