I Love Pappy's
Have you tried Exquisite quilting in seveirville, and Machine quilting by Iva's in Sevierville |
I want to go to Mary Jo's someday........
|
I stopped by Machine Quilting by Iva in Sevierville last month on a short vacation to Gatlinburg. Found some great fabric and notions not available here. They were very friendly and my husband got to sit in the rocking chairs out front. I have two sons living in Knoxville we try to visit 3 or 4 times a year. What are some good shops there?
|
omg.. Nursesews and Mickey.. yes I go to Pappy's.. I took my Longarm class there so I can use their machines!!! We will SOOO have to arrange to meet there sometime!.. did you know Pappy has quit giving lessons?
and Did you ever go to Roosters when they were open? I've heard that there is going to be another shop moving in to their last shop. Sorry about the hijack KWhite.. you should come join us!! No I haven't been to Ivas or the shop in Sevierville.. just don't ever seem to have time. |
I am totally cool with Hijacks. I am happy you guys started a convo. I would love to rent a motor home and travel the US from quilt shop to quilt shop. Wanna come?
|
Yes please
I did go to Roosters (not nearly enough) loved her shop but she was smaller than some of the others. Rumor is that someone is going to reopen the store but i have not heard when. Have you heard about the new store in Greenback "Mountain Creek Quilt shop" i think . it is qperated by Terri Ayers--she was working the longarm machine at Sweetwater Quilt shop. I think it is by the Dollar General--i haven't got to go there yet. Hopefully next weekend. |

But if you are going to mary jo's----you might want to see how close youare to a Store in Columbus, NC called ELAINE's ATTIC, 280 Landrum Road She is very nice I met her at the show in Marrietta |
Thank you. That is another half hour in the opposite direction. Maybe next time.
What else is in Charlott for me to see? I have never been there. |
I haven't been there myself yet (hopefully in January)
but my friend just got back from a stay in Boone and they found five or six shops listed in the Quilters Traveler. It is the book that list all the quilt shops in it in every State that requests to be listed. Ninnie goes regularly check with her to see where else to go. |
sorry that doesn't sound good.
Ninnie goes and she can tell you about other places to visit , tour and shop that sounds better |
Yeah I have an Aunt who lives in Boone. They have some nice stores up there.
|
they found several listed and used her GPS to find them some of them were just minutes away and they had never realized it before.
|
Thank you, Mickey. I will print this off and take it with me the next time we go down. I have been to Joanns in Knoxville and also the Cherry Pit in Sevierville. One time I went to a shop in Knoxville that had fabric but was mostly a sewing machine dealer. I can't remember the name but none of these ring a bell.
|
It's so sad to hear about another quilt shop closing. I guess it's a sign of the time.
|
Me Too!!!!!!!!
|
The Magic Cat is supposed to open tomorrow. It is going in the shop where Roosters was. I hear it is going to have a lot of bright, fabrics. Going to have a lot of juvenile prints too. Hope it stays around awhile!!
|
We have a 30' RV...where do we start???? haha! How I wish that I could!
Just got back from a month in Fl- ON the beach! Couple of good quilt shops nearby. They have some good sales! Another quilter & I both bring our machines down & sew when the weather is bad. She even sews outside! We are getting low on fabric sources here, too. Nothing left but a couple of quilt shops & a few WalMarts still have fabric. Have fun shopping! |
Mary Jo's is amazing. I live about 45 mins from there but can't go this weekend or I'd join you. You might be interested to know that the Sew Much Fun store near Mary Jo's has a great selection of quilting fabrics with very little duplication with Mary Jo's. It's only 5 - 10 mins from there on the main road - Franklin Blvd. They have sale fabrics too...just look for the % off sticker on the end of the bolts. Here's their website http://www.sewmuchfun4you.com/
