Another Quilt Shop Closing!

Very sad....recieved an email that a wonderful local quiltshop ( http://quiltingcousins.net) is closing their doors tomorrow.
I have already falling off the wagon in my fabric moratorium, so, albeit sadly, I will probably go shopping tomorrow.

We lost a quilt shop in our area last year - I still feel the void!!

Kudzu Blossom Quilt Shop in Montgomery AL is closing today. It was a wonderful shop with great people. I know I will miss it very much.:(

That is why I always try to support my LQS. I know I can get quilting supplies cheaper online sometimes, but I still try to shop a little every month at my LQS. They try to always offer something for all price ranges. I would be very sad to lose it.

Normally I would agree but our quilt shop is WAY overpriced and the lady who runs it is a bit of a quilt snob. She has the attitude that unless you are buying fabric from her, it's poor fabric (no matter where you get it) and she tends to frown on any custom quilting (which is what I almost always do). With her you have to have a set pattern, and the more traditional patterns are the best ones. So, it makes it hard to shop there sometimes!

I support my LQS, but they don't get all my dollars because they don't cater to all my interests. I do check them out first, and they are great when I need something that instant.

Our LQS (Quilter's Patch - Santa Anna, TX) is closing the first of June and they started a 25% off sale the 1st of March. They are closing due to too much business and the two ladies that own the shop both want to retire. Their longarming business has been so successful they are pretty much worn out. I only buy fabric on-sale there or a yard or two to match fabric needed for a specific quilt. But they both have been wonderful with their advice, regardless of whether I purchased the fabric from them or not. I'll miss the shop, but my pocketbook will be in better shape as I've spent over $300.00 since this sale began. I think in May all their stock will go to 50% off, so I'm saving up for that.

A local shop that was about a mile down the road from me closed awhile ago. I heard that it was just too much for the owner since she had young children at home. Now I heard that she has a very serious illness and needs everyone's prayers. I was saddened to hear this, and hope everything goes well for her. It is always sad to hear about another shop closing no matter the reason, but especially sad when it is for health reasons.

So hard to see quilt stores closing, but new ones can and do open up...just not as many.

Went by today, but didn't buy much. Only marking down 40% and this is supposed to be the last day. She is having a "Going Out with a Bang" party on Monday, but I'll be working. Not sure what this actually means, but beat it will be amazing price cuts!:-(:-(:-(:-(:-(
