Any members live near Freemont California?
I have a friend, and quilter, who is going there in the next few weeks and her husband has given her permission to go fabric hunting, he's a keeper. So if any of you live near enough to either help her spend her DH's money or give me directions to some good LQS she would so appreciate it.
BTW she won't let me and Muffin smuggle across in her suitcase, she says that is for fabrics :( |
Fremont actually has a couple of little shops in the Niles district. Can't miss them, they are on the main street (Niles Blvd), in downtown Niles, among the antique shops. I can't think of their names at the moment, but I'll look them up and post them. They are very small. Best bet is to use the phone book when she gets here.
On the other hand, the Pacific International Quilt Festival happens Oct. 11-14 in Santa Clara (25 minutes away). That is definitely worth attending! She can see our local vendors and more, all in one place, and over 800 amazing quilts as well. I spend a lot my husband's money there every year ;-) http://www.quiltfest.com/activities.asp?id=7 |
here are links to the Fremont quilt shops that I mentioned. As I said, they are very small.

The owners are very friendly and helpful people. They offer a nice discount when you finish off a bolt, and they give you 20% off your backing fabric if you bring in the top. I'm glad you had a nice visit to my neighborhood ;-)

Thank you so much DebraK, Margaret is so chuffed that she will be there when it's on and what is great is her DH is taking the day off work, hiring a car and making a day of it. I am so jealous :)
