With Christmas fastly approaching- I wanted to do a family tree wall hanging--- any good patterns? Or has someone did one? Thanks much in advance.

I saw one I don't remember where exactly (I was searching the internet for something else) but they had pictures of each of the family members on the tree - the picture was in the center of a pieced leaf. Try googling family tree quilts and look at the images tab.

You could do a big tree with the branches for the different parts of the family and the leaves you could put everyones name, DOB/DOD, etc.

A picture just came into my mind. A very large tree with many separate leaves, and each one has a name on it, written or embroidery. They could be different shades of green for different generations.

(I just looked up family tree quilt and there are ready made panels for sale.)

A tree with fruit (like apples) with each persons name or picture on an apple. That way, as the family goes, new apples can be added on.

I did one for my dad. I quilted a trunk and lots of tree branches. My mom was on one side of the tree trunk and my dad was on the other. Pics of them I mean. I put a pic of their wedding picture and their announcement on the trunk. The lower branches have us kids pics and then the grandkids and their spouses and the upper branches are all the great grandkids pics. He almost cried when I gave it to him.
