mgshaw 07-08-2008 05:55 PM

I'm very interested in miniature quilts, but I've only made one so far. You can see it at the link below. I have my fabric ready to make another mini, but I haven't started piecing it yet. Have you made any? If so, please, please post pictures. :D :D

Did you paper piece? That is wonderful!

I like miniature quilts too. I have fabric for a kitty quilt but the pattern in my miniature quilts mag has been lost in my box room (a summer project - to tackle that one). Hee Hee this was before I learned to paper piece so I cut all the pattern pieces out and couldn't figure how these itty bitty pieces were supposed to go together... oops... know better now... lol. I like the minature quilts bc they can be sooo detailed even though they're so small...

Melissa - I want to make a quilt for myself like the one in the picture. It was a Christmas gift, and when I made it, I cut out enough fabric to make two. I'm not sure what pattern I'll make after I finish that.

Barbsbus - Thanks. It is paper pieced. I really enjoy paper piecing and I think the miniature quilts are easier to do with that technique.

There are a couple other posts with pictures of miniature quilts, but I'm not sure who posted them.

Here is one I worked on.

I love miniture quilts....but I have found that the cutting seems to be as long as a full size quilt ....HAHA!
Got a couple on my plate as we speak.

Oh I love them and one day I will do one but haven't attempted as of yet...

Minda, that is sooo gorgeous, looks similar to the buttercup log cabin BOM, just love the layout in yours, and the colours, so beautiful. I've never done a miniature, looks like fun

It's on my list of things that I have to try.

Minda,
You miniature quilt is gorgeous.

I hate to throw away anything. I save my corners that get cut off when making 1/2 square triangles. I sew them together, cut them down and use them for miniature doll house quilts/rugs. Broken Dishes is a great pattern for this.

I have a hard enough time with Reg. size pieces lol. I'll just sit back and enjoy yours...

I have done a few miniature quilts.
I also use to get the miiniature quilt mag and was upset when it was discontinued!!
There a fun project and don't take that long.
I didn't think of giving them as gifts....hmmmm.

coming around the final bend with Sunbonnet. almost ready to bind!!

Have a great day.

Minda,
That is so beautiful. I can't wait to see your next one. I like minis, just haven't had the time to get started. My current to do list is going to take me 2-3 years to complete, maybe longer. I'm trying not to plan beyond my current list becaus the kids will be in school and I'll be going back to work about that time. Thank you for sharing the link to your photos.

I used to make a lot of mini's when the kids were little. It was so funny when my 5yr old would ask why that pot-holder was so big :)

Dodie 07-10-2008 09:14 AM

I love minature quilts and have made several I also miss the minature magazine but I redrafted other patterns and do make one occasionally

Potholders  now that's funny....if we ARE counting potholders by the way, I have made those....not that they were useful. They ended up in the pretend kitchen!

I love making minature quilts :P . As fabric is quite expensive here, it is a neat way of being able to make something without it costing a fortune. We used to get the minature quilt magazine here, I really enjoyed it, I'm sorry to hear it's been discontinued  Here are a couple of mine that I've posted on here http://www.quiltingboard.com/posts/list/45/1328.page

Thanks, everyone, for all of the compliments. Please post pictures of the miniature quilts you've done.

Shelley, Thanks for posting the link to your quilts. They're gorgeous.
