I saw it in a quilting magazine this month and while it looks cool, it is a bit pricey.....But it will work well in my sewing/craft/office. Because it can be out of the way when I don't need it. It is a shelf and the flannel/vinyl rolls up under the shelf when not in use.

Anyone have one and want to give a review? Can't decide if I want to ask for it for my birthday at the end of October.

I saw that ad and it looks like the ideal design wall. I am thinking of buying a shelf and the flannel backed vinyl and putting it on a shade roller. Not sure if they still sell shade rollers. You wouldn't need the shelf if you could mount the ends for the roller on brackets that would come out from the wall. I maybe wrong about my invention, but would be cheaper than their invention.:)

While I love to quilt, I am so NOT handy.....I thought about trying to recreate the roller idea too...but knowing me it would either never get done or look terrible in the end!

Someone posted a topic awhile back about them. They look very nice, but I couldn't afford it.

Never heard of such a device. I spent a bunch of money on the one that was supposed to stick to the wall. It didn't. They replaced it twice and I gave up. Since then I have purchased the Fons and Porter one that has grommets along the top. In one of my rare insights I took the architect's advice and had 9 ft. ceilings in this house with a a picture rail around at the 8 ft. level. For very little one can buy decent looking hooks to hang from the picture rail with a substantial hook with which to hang pictures, quilts and in this case, the design wall. Once the blocks are applied to the gridded flannel they stay for days. It's great. If anyone would like I can post a picture of the set up if I can figure out how to post a picture. I use 30# test monofilament fishing line to hang pictures and quilts. They can be moved around at will without damaging the dry wall. I'm so glad that I jumped on the recommendation. The arrangement with white painted ceilings down to the picture rail makes for good light at well.

My hubby and I made mine. We used a piece of crown molding (the fake kind) to enclose it as I did not want a shelf.

I used fusible webbing to put the flannel on a window shade.

Make your own with a window shade spray adhesive and flannel fabric.
