I recently bought the book "Pieced Applique" by Penny Haren and love it! Has anyone used this method? It is a combination of piecing and appliqueing each block. I wondered if anyone has tried it and had luck with it. TIA

Haven't seen this. Excuse me while I go look up the book.
That is beautiful. No wonder you want to try it.

I have some of my Grandmother's blocks. They are the Flower Garden pattern (little hexigons pieced together). I appliqued them on to blocks and intertwined bias vines and leaves around them. They came out great and appliqueing them to the block gave the old fragile fabric more stability.

Looking at her site, it's kind of hard to figure out what she means by pieced appliqué, but I'm posting her link here, just in case you want to read the corrections to the first printing of the book (you may have the 2nd & she says it's right)

I had to read her book twice before it finally "sunk in." Now that I understand the concept I think it sounds fun!

Here's a picture. The idea came from a picture on the front of a quilting magazine. I can't take the credit for the design; however, I changed a few things. I also made one with dark blue blocks and have enough flower garden blocks for another one. Works out great as I have 3 daughters. Now, to get them hand quilted will be another job. Thanks for the interest.

The blocks are actually a light yellow. Color didn't come out true.
