I have just introduced myself to these fun fabrics, but am wondering how many of you have done a project with a Charm Pack or a Turnover? I need some ideas.

Thanks,
Judi

I'm making a tote bag from Moda charm packs now. two totes. one xmas and the other floral. but quick quilts can be made with them also. nothing added, or sashings added or extra plain squares, etc.

I've done a couple of quilts with the charm packs and have more charms waiting for me to get to them. I usually do the D9patch. The latest one I did for my S/D and it's posted somewhere here on the forum.

You can also go to http://www.modabakeshop.com and they have tons of ideas for all these yummy packs.

Layer cakes, jelly rolls, and charm packs are pretty much all I have - I only buy yardage of fabric for the borders, backing, or binding of the quilt. I really like using the prepackaged fabric because it is cut in sizes that lend themselves to quick piecing, and more importantly for me they are color coordinated collections of fabrics. It really takes the guesswork out of it for me when making a quilt. There are many books out on the market which are written specifically for using charm packs, or jelly rolls, or layer cakes. I'd suggest getting one or two of the books and seeing what you think. I think they're great myself.

A turnover is a collection of fabrics all cut in a triangle shape, like a turnover (see sample pic below).

I use charm packs all the time! They're great for baby quilts and for table runners. You can go to the FatQuarterQuilters site and find tons of patterns for them. Everything coordinates, so you wind up looking pretty smart!
