?? for anyone that uses a Sew Steady with their Jem...

what size do you have and are you happy with the size? I have the large one for my machine at home but wondering if something smaller would be better/easier to take to class and retreats?

thanks!

Its a plexiglass table that has legs and fits around the free arm of your sewing machine.

The first one I bought was 24"x18", custom fit to my Brother. When I got my Kenmore, the opening was a little too narrow so DH shaved it off a bit to fit. I use that table 24/7 on whichever machine I'm using.

When I got a small Janome to take to classes, I purchased the small table. Best investment ever. Funny how quickly you can get attached to something, it just makes my sewing more comfortable so obviously I would highly recommend it.

I store my small table in a small flannel pillowcase to keep it clean and to protect it from scratches. I sewed a seam around the top of the pillowcase and then opened the side seam and threaded ribbon through it so I could close it up like a duffel bag. I used large pretty buttons at the ends of the ribbon to keep the ribbon from getting pulled back into the opening. I bought a large zippered pillow protective cover at Walmart to store my big table in.

thanks lalaland, I thought the small size would be better but its good knowing that you like it. And that's a great idea about using a pillowcase to protect it!

I just saw this item today in Fons and Porter Easy Quilts. It was showing a Universal Sew Straight Guide. Anybody use this too?

Card Crafter 08-13-2012 03:22 PM

DeneK I don't have the guide. Thinking about getting the spinning tray though. It might be nice to keep everything handy at classes....I seem to loose all those tools!

DeneK I paid $20 for the Sew Steady Sew Straight Guide at a quilt show a few months back. I like it a lot. I don’t know if it’s the same item you’re referring to.
