I am doing a wall hanging. It is called “Bringing Home the Tree”.

I did not care for the snoball background and decided to do a quiltsmart 2 inch square background of creams, white and neutrals. So - I already have some "bulk" with the background. I am now ready to do the appliqué. There are lots of smaller pieces layered tog for the trees, house and road which will then be painted with stitches.

What products do you recommend for the appliqué? I have Heat n Bond but my daughter thought it to heavy so she recommended Steam a seam as she felt the it was lighter.

Any opinions/suggestions?

I used Steam A Seam that came with a kit for a Christmas project. I couldn't get my needle through it. It was horrible. I can't suggest it, that's for sure. I think another quilter thought Steam a Seam 2 was lighter, but I'm too scared to try it!

There is a steam-a-seam light that works well. Ask at the fabric counter.

Pellon makes one I like, a little stiff, but gets less so after washing.

I use Heat'n Bond Lite for all my fusing, and prefer it over the Steam a Seam (mostly because I get confused about what side to trace on with the SS.

are ypu going tp hsnd sew or just fuse ?

sorry about the spelling in the first seply if hand sewing I would use a glue stick lightly , just to hold in place, if fusing only heat and bond lite I find works great I don,t like steama seam have used but find it doesn,t hold as well Good Luck

steam a seam 2 (lite) is really good but I also use wonder under, althought it can be a little stiff, but I don't have a problem getting my needle through it.
