If you've spent any time on these boards, I'm sure you've seen the lovely work that Karla, aka Barnbum, creates. Also a gifted photographer, she's posted pics of her darling mini's and some wonderful nature shots.

April 23 and 24 Karla will have some of her gorgeous quilts shown at the Lake to Lake Quilt Show. See http://www.lake2lakequiltguild.com/quiltshow/index.htm

It's a busy weekend in the area - several local shops are also working together to put on the Spring Fling shop hop, and Saturday and Sunday is the Artistry in Thread is at the Rochester Museum and Science Center. Info at
http://www.rmsc.org/About/Pressroom/detail/?id=229

Shops in the Spring Fling:
Carriage House Quilts, Naples, NY
Ivy Thimble, Victor, NY
Lake Country Patchwork, Hammondsport, NY
O'Susannah's Quilts and Gifts, Watkins Glen, NY
The Village Sampler, Big Flats, NY

We also have great Mennonite shops locally. Bare bones basic, no decorations, but fabulous prices ($6/yd for 108" wide Warm and Natural and $6.25 - $6.50/yd for fabric) for the same fabrics the LQS carries.

We are 2 hours from Buffalo, 1 hour from Rochester, just over an hour from Syracuse, 1 hour from Elmira/PA border.

So get in the car! Come on up - or over!

Sorry - think I have the links corrected!

I was getting excited when I saw you are from "upstate NY" but "upstate" is northern NY (from Syracuse north!!) Just teasing. It does sound very interesting. I would love to shop in the Mennonite fabric stores. Where are they?
Thanks for the info.

Lol, depends on where you are. People an hour north of NYC think they are upstate, too!

The one I like best, Golden Lane, is in Himrod - just outside of Penn Yan.

Boy, isn't that true and they don't think they rest of us exist. Little do they know how much of NY there is.
Thanks for the info on the store

Is the farm market still open in Penn Yan? I used to love and visit there when I worked in Geneva and lived in Rochester. Thanks for the great info!

And your right, most think Upstate NY is Westchester County. Little do they know of the beautiful state to the North, Central and West. The best parts of the state! How I miss home!
