I do know that you need cotton thread. Someone gave me a potatoe bag, and 2nd time I used it there was some burning starting in the seam! Running my finger over it feels like they may have used polyester in the thread.

DO NOT put anything metallic in the microwave!!

The fabris s are beautiful. I would try it in the microwave with a very small piece and see what happens.

I made my daughter a tater bag out of 100% cotton, used cotton batting, and cotton thread. She put the potatoes in and went to check on her daughter and when she came back her new microwave was on fire. My other daughter had no trouble with hers. So you need to tell everyone to watch things that they put in. I think the timing and the heat of the microwave is very important. I do love the fabrics you are using and hope it works out. :-D

Things can catch on fire, actually, I mean flames. Someone put a plate in mine with silver trim and next came the flames. Be careful

I had a cup w/gold trim, put it in the micro and POP the gold sparked and I had a cup w/black burn mark. Using fabric w/any type metal is a dangerous thing to do. Don't even try to experiment with a small piece of fabric. Fire can happen!!

Baked potato bags........hmmmm.....I think I'll just stick to piercing the potato with a fork after washing it and wrap it completely in a papertowel and run it under the water to get it wet and then nuke it for 6 to 8 minutes. I personally don't care if it looks pretty while it is cooking or not...lol!

A picture of it completed is halfway down the first page. Enjoy. It is a cute idea.

Hope you follow the majority of the advice here. Sounds very sound :)

I put a gold rim cup in mine one time too, not pretty! I would be afraid to try.
