When you are piecing your block, do you ALWAYS pin the pieces together before you sew or do you just hold them in place?
|
If they're tiny (1 inch width) I just hold, otherwise I pin pin pin. It helps me with my accuracy and it makes sure everything is lined up, so it's one less thing to worry about while I'm trying to keep the 1/4 inch seam.
And I always pin intersections to make sure they come out right. |
I usually do not pin when doing just pieces, but when doing a whole row or row to row, I also pin the intersections. It is probably a personal preference - just like whether to wash and dry fabric or not before sewing.
|
It is purely a personal preference. I pin when I have to and often I have to. If blocks just aren't playing nice I pin them.
If I have a bunch of pinning to do I save it for in front of the TV. |
I do not pin anything ! But then my quilts are not perfect, nor do I expect them to be. It is personal preference. I quilt only for family or close friends who are not going to pick apart my work. I am too impatient for the time that it would take to pin.

I am a pinner!!! Especially when matching seams, but on little tiny pieces that the pin would distort, I just press the pieces together.
|
Most times I do not pin, but like the others who have replied, I usually pin at the intersections when putting the rows together.
|
I rarely pin. I find that I poke myself way to many times.

I pin! I am very particular over my matching so I find it best to pin.. But that is me. I also sell my work, so I have to be precise :)
