Attaching Praire pont to a quilt
 

Hi every one,
I am making praire points for a baby quilt and I don't know how to attach it to the binding. Can any one help me please ? Thanks for the help, you guys are such a wealth of information.

This is shows the binding showing on the right side of the quilt. Kind of cute.

the only time I ever did pp's, i used the birthing method.

I'm a lurker, but couldn't resist asking if there's a tute for the "birthing method"! My morning chuckle - thanks!

I have been watching the videos on youtube for awhile but I don't know how to attach a regular binding with the praire points. I don't know what the birthing method is. Can you help?

Nancy, it never dawned on me to birth the prairie points! Sheesh, that would've made the last baby quilt finish so much faster!

When I've used prairie points, they have been the binding.

when applying with binding, pin each prairie point into position, lay binding on top and sew thru all raw edges at the same time, fold over binding and finish by hand or machine, the points will flip outward as you fold binding. If 'birthing' then pin to raw edge of quilt top, place backing on top of sandwich, sew thru all layers, leaving an opening in the center of one side. then reach inside and grab corners to turn right side out just as tho you were making a little pillow cover. when corners are all turned, play with them till they look nice and then whip stitch the side opening closed. I usually leave at least 12" to turn and just a tip..... when stopping and starting the seam on each end of the opening.... turn the material 90 deg to sew OFF the side ... this gives you an opening that looks like a 'gate' was left open and it really takes the stress off the ends of your stitching while wrestling it right side out.... so, sew the first side FROM raw edge TO the seam line.... turn parallel to edge of quilt all round all 4 sides, and then finish in reverse. Sew TO the marked end of opening, turn 90 deg and sew OFF the edge to make the little gate... and do this in the middle....you want all your corners to be done away from the opening so that they match in appearance. This type of quilt is usually tied or quilted after turning. This type of quilt is usually tied or quilted after turning and closing...
