I am making a block with applique and yo-yo flowers. What is the correct way to attach the yo-yos to the block? It seems that if you only attached them through the center hole, it might not be very stable with use. Then, of course, if you do the tiny applique stitches around the edges, it takes away some of the dimension. Just wondering????

I would put a stitch in the middle, one at 12 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 6 o'clock and 9 o'clock.

I saw a pattern in a magazine where a line of hand stitching was placed about 1/4" away from the hole all the way around. Bigger yoyos were stitched further in. It added a nice touch. I can probably send a picture if you want, but no pattern due to copyright laws.

i appliqued my yo-yo's to my quilt blocks---meaning i stitched all the way around the yo-yo just like any other applique- they are secure- are not going to curl or become distorted- some people stitch a button in to the center- but since the quilt was for a child i did not add the buttons- just appliqued them to the background fabrics

I glue them using Fabri Tac glue.
