Attn purse makers-need help adding "feet"

I was asked to put feet on the bottom of a bag I am making for someone. It's a Bow Tuck, of which I can make in my sleep by now! I bought this pack of 4 discs at Joann's that have a metal washer (like with magnetic snaps) and longer very flimsy arms to splay out. Question is, did I get the right feet and how do I attach them? I figure I need to go through the lining and outside of the bag, but not sure. Please help! I do put in a firm bottom, but I make a slip cover for it and just put in inside on top of the lining so it can be taken out and washed, not sandwiched between lining and outside. HELP!

Here's a couple of tutes that might help you http://www.ellenmedlocksblog.com/archives/267

Thanks Auntpiggylpn. That is exactly what I bought, problem is, I don't use that mesh in my bottoms. Instead, I buy sheets of this white plastic-type rigid board which is smooth on one side and have a texture on the other and my DH cuts them to size and finished off the corners for me. They are so rigid, I won't be able to cut holes for the prongs. I thought, I could use a piece of stiff Peltex sandwiched between the lining and outside and attach the feet to that. What do you think? I am so afraid I will screw this up and don't have enough fabric to make another if I do.

I don't see why that wouldn't work! I've never made a bag with feet before so I can't tell you from experience. I hope someone will come along and give you a more definite answer. Be sure and post your finished project!

Thanks for the links. I loved their purses. Great Christmas present for my husband to get me!

You can also sew buttons on the bottom, the kind with shanks, not the flat ones.

Since your bottom is removeable, couldn't you just use 2 small pieces of the plastic (used for attaching feet), one on each side of the bottom, maybe 1 1/2 inches by the width of the bottom, attach the feet and put the removable bottom back on top. Maybe even 4 independent squares one for each foot.

I am so glad to see this today, I've been wondering how to add feet to a bag that's still in the planning stages. Excellent info, thank you!

Update-I finished the bag last night-late! I ended up using a rectangle the size of the bottom of very stiff Peltex which I was able to pierce through for the prongs of the feet. I Put that between the lining and the bag. It worked just fine, the feet anchoring it to the bottom, and I just put the stiff bottom back in on top of the lining like usual. I am so happy nothing went wrong! I will attempt to post a photo, just can't remember how since I have been off the board for several months ( getting purses made!). Thanks for all your suggestions!
