Baby Quilt Poem
I am looking for a poem to label a baby quilt which expresses the quilt isn't an heirloom or keepsake but should be used and loved. There is one credited to Nancy Sherlock that is very similar but the one I saw included a line about using the quilt as a saddle for the dog. I have searched and searched for it but don't find it. Does anyone recognize it? I would appreciate any help locating it. Thanks!

Thank you, NanaCsews2, I have seen that sight. The one I'm looking for mentions using the quilt as a tent, a saddle for the dog, Superman's cape, etc. Things that are perfect for a little boy. I had just started making a quilt for my great nephew when I saw it and thought "that's great, I need to remember where it is so I can use it". Can you guess the rest? This old brain doesn't work like it used to.

Poem for a boy's quilt...
I have found one that sounds like it might be about right... is this it? Maybe you could work the saddle for a dog in there somehow!
This Quilt Author Unknown This quilt is made of cloth and thread To place upon your little bed. It’s not an heirloom – just to keep, But to lay upon as you count sheep. Or perhaps the floor’s the perfect place For a doll and teddy picnic space. This quilt can be anything you can dream – From Superman’s cape to the robe of a queen. Pretend it’s a raft adrift at sea, Or just cuddle up when you watch TV. So use it up and wear it out – I promise I won’t yell or pout. Just tell me when its days are through, And I’ll make another, just for you. |
