I need to make a baby blanket/ quilt that is 34" by 45". I am using the warm and natural needled batting.
I am not very skilled, am quilting my second quilt right now. What is a good pattern? It will most likely be cotton and I need to have it done in a week. Thank you Emily |
Everyone swears by Warm wishes. I have yet to try it , was going to for a quilt I also need done in a week, but couldn't bring myself to cut the fabric pieces that small. Wanted to fussy cut some of the larger design and the other fabrics had an obvious one way pattern that I didn't think would look right sideways. ( Does that make sense?) Also a 4 patch or 9 patch... Let us know what you decide..

Does it have to be that size? Here is a tutorial for a cute one, but it's wider. You could just leave out one strip of coins and that would make it smaller.
http://www.modabakeshop.com/2009/02/...aby-quilt.html It uses 2 charm packs so there is less cutting, too which would save you time. Providing you have a couple charm packs laying around. (I have like, 15, I think... no, I don't have a problem...) |
This blog post links to 3 different tutorials for baby quilts.

Hi Emily
A really quick and easy quilt to make is the Disappearing Nine Patch". Use baby colors and it is a baby quilt. You can see a picture of a baby quilt with this pattern and directions at http://www.appliquequiltdesigns.com/...-Squares.html. Also I feel that flannel fabric in baby colors is really nice. Janie |
Thanks for that link Lisa. I have added that blog to my bookmarks. What a great site :!:

We just made a bunch for a charity quilt night at my LQS. We cut scraps into 3" and 4" strips and sewed them together into 3" and 4" LONG strips (you could quickly get to the 36" length). Then we sewed the long strips together, alternating 4" and 3" strips to the length we wanted. There were 7 or 8 of us, and we got 7 tops completed in under 3 hours. The nice thing is that the seams are NOT supposed to match, giving it a cute randomness of design, and it makes a great scrap buster. Quilting can either be stitch in the ditch or a random meandering pattern.

I made the dissapearing 9 patch and hand quilted it in a weeks time it goes together quickly and if you machine quilt you could have it done in a day.
