Hi everyone. I have some bad news...my $60.00 sewing machine that I have used for two years to see if I like quilting shot craps. Even worse, I came home from work to find out that my hubby had it apart in a hundred pieces. Good news is that he wasn't able to fix it and even better news is that I got an early Christmas present!! I got a new Janome 3160 QDC!! I love it! Hopefully I will be able to learn how to do some new things.

You gotta love handy husbands, especially when they have to buy you something new to replace what they took apart. (I got a new stove that way once.)
Have fun with your new machine!

Good for you :P

maryb119 11-05-2010 04:56 AM

Sounds like a win-win situation to me. First hubby really tried to help because he knew you loved to sew and second....You get a new machine. Lucky you for both!

knlsmith 11-05-2010 04:59 AM

I love it when a plan comes together! LOL even if it isn't planned.

Congratulations on your new Christmas Gift. I've had a $79 Sewing Machine for 5 years. It has pieced 6 quilts and is still running. I did buy a new one, just in case. I don't have a husband to dismantle the cheap on so, will just keep pluging it in until it goes to SM heaven.

sandpat 11-05-2010 05:23 AM

 Sometimes the bad news produces some great news! Congrats on your new baby! Hope you gave a respectable burial to your old one...

Roberta 11-05-2010 06:09 AM

Great news. Now do you have anything else you can give to DH to "fix". Make it something you've dreamed of owning

Yarn or Fabric 11-05-2010 06:11 AM

Sweet! I think your first project should be something for him - my husband would never have even tried to fix it!

IBQUILTIN 11-05-2010 06:39 AM

Just goes to show that something good comes from something not so good - sooner or later - in your case sooner. congrats

hannajo 11-05-2010 06:54 AM

Congrats, Lisaginger! Now you have to make a decision about what to do with the broken machine. Toss it, or keep it around just in case DH figures out how to fix it...

and asked her husband to bring it downstairs so she could sew
...he dropped it.....now she has a new machine..

Congrats on your new machine! Happy sewing!

Lady Diana 11-05-2010 10:30 AM

Congrats on your new Janome.
I bought this machine for all my quilt classes. It is a dream.
Light weight and it has the auto thread cutter....can't live without that for piecing.
