Bamboo batting question
 

could someone please tell me the pros and cons of bamboo batting

I have felt it and it is very soft and silky. I've never used it in a quilt so I can't give you any feedback on it's use. It is touted as a "green" alternatively because bamboo is very renewable. I have read however, that the manufacturing process is similar to rayon, and that so many chemicals are used that is is more harmful to the environment that traditional materials for batting.

i have used the Dream Bamboo & Dream Orient batts- both were wonderful to work with- created wonderful quilts- and have lasted many washings still maintaining wonderful drape- some people get wrapped up in manufacturing processes and (attack) different batts- but bottom line- they all get manufactured- go through processes-
i like all of the batts from the Dream company- i've tried them all & grab them first when i find them on sale- the dream wool is my favorite- but the dream bamboo was silky soft- great drape- nice loft- easy to quilt- washes up nice- has held up well for a few years in a childs quilt- so has taken alot of use/abuse.

I have some but haven't used it yet. However, a friend uses it and says it's awesome to work with. Needles very nicely, has a soft hand/drape.

Made daughter in CA a quilt with Dream Orient. She said it's warm in winter & cool in summer and she's washed it a million times. Still looks great. It's my personal favorite. Dream Orient contains bamboo, silk, some cotton and botanic tencel (eucalyptus). They do not make a plain bamboo batting.

love bamboo! Easy to hand quilt, no bearding, lovely drape, and washes nicely.
