I am hoping to make a quilt from some bandanas...didn't know if anyone had any ideas to help me out! I don't know if I should use any interfacing or anything to make the bandanas stronger. Thank you ladies for all your help!! This message board keeps me going somedays!

Guess what ... They came out with bandana print fabric this year. I just bought some for a quilt I am making. They had it in yellow, torquoise and red.

So much depends on the quality of the bandanas. If they are cheap and thin I would use very light weight interfacing. If they are the heavier ones made to be a sturdy handkerchief they should not need interfacing.

I think that other's here have used a light weight interfacing to beef up the fabric a bit.

I think the interfacing would help them hold up better. Just my opinion.

Buffy, I am currently working on one right now. I used a light weight interfacing to stiffen them up. What I found though are they are not uniform in size, 19" is my smallest, so I had to get a template made of plexi-glass, (only cost me 8.00), so that I can see through it to see where the print is, to cut them all uniform, that is where I am at with them. Then I am going to sew altogher, and put a 5" border on it. I have been working on it a little at a time, it will be about a king size quilt I think when it is finished. I have never done this size, so I'm not even sure if my machine can handle it. We shall see. I might have to send it out to be finished. This one my husband asked for, so I would like to get it done for Christmas.

Which material? The bandanas WalMart sells for 2 for 1.00 at times. The Plexiglass I went to a glass replacement business that does, windows, screens, plexiglass. Is that what you were asking? If not let me know.

i am looking for some material in bandana print joanns has some in blue but i would like other colors also thanks

Be sure to wash them first, the do shrink alot.
