Is it a usual thing that batting isn't the size stated on the package? I just opened a package of crib sized Soft and Crafty from JoAnn. It is supposed to be 45x60. It is 49x58.5. It is a good thing I layed it out and placed the quilt top on it to check it out before adding the outer border because now I have to change the width of that border. I guess I could check out the batting ahead of time from now on.

It is possible that the short side might still relax and end up being the correct size? Sometimes the folds can foreshorten the piece. I usually by the batting off the bolt.

You can tumble the batting in a dryer for 10 minutes or so to help it relax.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try putting this one in the dryer and buying the next one off the bolt.

I have pressed mine, and then let it relax over night, and it ended up being the size listed on the packaging :D:D:D
