I have two pieces of batting that I want to join together. What is the easiest way to do this?

What type of batting is it? Polyester or cotton? If it's cotton, you can place the two pieces side by side and sew them together with a zigzag stitch. If it's polyester, you place the two pieces on top of each other and do a loose whipstitch along the side, and when done, you lay them side by side and the whip stitch is loose enough to allow it. Hope this helps.

I've seen a video using a serpentine stitch to join the two pieces. I haven't tried it, but supposedly it reduces bulk at the join.

I have never done this, but I have a few tips -
lay the two pieces overlapping a bit, and then make a straight cut thru both layers (or cut with a curving zig zag - squiggle). Remove the excess edges, align the newly cut edges, then zig zag stitch or fuse some sort of interfacing to hold edges together. Sounds to me like it would work and would be a flat seam.
