Batting tape to the rescue.
 

Some time ago DGD was using scissors and cut a slit in her new shirt. Any mending job would be noticeable. I put batting tape on back and fused the two ends of the fabric butted together. It looked almost invisible. I forgot all about it until she had on the shirt yesterday and the tape was still holding good as new. The shirt has been washed and dried many times. In fact her mom, my DD, forgot the shirt was ever cut. I have used fusible before to mend but they eventually roll on the edges. The batting tape is laying flat and smooth.

The name of the tape I used is Heat Press Batting Together. I have a white and black roll.

Very cool! I used this for batting but was not that happy with it. Good to have another use.

I've been experimenting using the tape to machine quilt a large quilt top but using the batting in sections. Marti Mitchell had a demo of this some time ago. I'm happy with the results so far.

I love Batting Tape. I used it when I did a QAYG project and it made it so easy to keep the blocks and sashing lined up. Like the idea, BellaBoo for mending the shirt. I've had others tell me it's too expensive and just sew the batting pieces together. I don't like that--never lays flat. Plus, as the L'Oreal ad says "I'm worth it" LOL.

Thanks for the tip, I am off to buy some. I sure could have used that in the past and I know I will again.

Hmmmm it lasted through washing too? news to me. I thought mine said to be sure to stitch through the taped area well.

I guess fused to fabric holds better then fused to most battings.
