Beautiful Blessings Panels by Moda
 

I need ideas (so I don't reinvent the wheel) for utilizing BOTH of the panels above. I have the brown and the blue panels and want to make two quilts (large lap size) for a Womens retreat in Oct.

Any suggestions would help. I'm looking for an easy way out. I was one on Etsy that incorporated the blue panel in a lone star quilt but that's too aggressive for what I want to do.

Funny, I asked the same question and posted it! I saw the picture of the Lone Star Quilt as well. Beautiful, but too much for me. I'll be watching and see if somebody out there has ideas. I have ideas in my head, but haven't proceeded yet. The "wings" fabric that goes with it, as well as some of the other coordinating fabrics are beautiful and I have seen them online. However, I haven't seen them in stores.

What about using a half nine patch star after putting a sashing around each block, like the half ones pictured in my avatar?

Sometimes if you go on the mods web site they will have free patterns for the panels.

No luck with the freebie from the mfg. I just don't want to look like the quilt was thrown together. It's for a spiritual retreat held by my Women's Fellowship each year at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, Ca.

I just want to make a decent sized throw for the raffle winner. I do love the coordinating fabrics but don't want to the quilt to cost a gazillion bucks to make. Will probably use fabrics from my stash.

I didn't see anything free from Moda either. Still thinking about exactly what to do. I agree that I don't want to spend a great deal of money putting it together. I'll post if I get it together. Good luck and blessings to you and your retreat planning.

Thanx Robin. I've had the panels laying across my couch for inspiration. I'm thinking of "maybe" doing some short french braid "blocks" in blues, lavendars and purples to go with the four block panel. Maybe just some 4 patches or something simple to border the long brown panel. Sigh!

Sounds pretty. It's challenging to come up with something because you don't want to take away from the panels themselves because they're stunning in their own right and you want to highlight the scripture. I found some beautiful fabrics that had those peacock colors I was looking for, but I thought they overshadowed the panel. It's kind of like doing a scrapbooking page--do you want everyone to "ooh and aah" over the borders, stickers, and fonts, or do you want the pictures to be the highlight. In my opinion, simpler is best. Another thought is to use 3 out of the 4, and do something on the diagonal from the upper left corner, down to the lower right corner. Your "filler" would be on the right upper and left lower sides, also on the diagonal. Triangles? Just a thought. I'm not sure which one I could bear to part with. We'll keep this going and see what we both come up with.
