I took the plunge and entered my quilt "Tumbling Tabbies" into the Bennington Quiltfest quilt show. I'm not in it to win anything just to have fun and see my quilt hanging in a show. Bennington is a small quilt show limited to about 140 quilts, excluding minitures, young quilter entries and the hosting guild's challenge quilts.
If anyone lives near the Bennington Vt. area I would love to meet up at the show. Let me know. And I promise to take lots of pictures for here. OOOOh, really nice. Have fun. I was just telling my daughter we should go to Vermont to the museum and see the DJ quilt!! We won't make it this year, but I hope you enjoy the show experience.

The DJ quilt is the Jane Stickle quilt, the Dear Jane quilt. It is at the Bennington Museum, in Bennington, VT http://www.benningtonmuseum.com/index.aspxand is only exhibited once each year. This years dates are Sept 5 thru Oct 10 http://www.benningtonmuseum.org/exhibition.aspx?i=2. Other Vermont quilt events are http://burling.planetdiscover.com/sp...keywords=quilt and, of course, the annual Vermont Quilt Festival every spring in Essex Junction http://www.vqf.org/

I can't believe that quilt has been mere minutes from me!! Of course, until I discovered this site I must say I was in a "quilt coccoon". The only interaction I ever got with other quilters was at a show or in the LQS. I will definitely go check it out when the exhibit has it displayed again. I will also check out the Essex Junction quilt show next June. Thanks so much. FF |
LOL, glad to help FF. I'm in NH, about 80 miles southeast of Bennington so it's a comfortable day trip for me, too. Also take a look at the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, VT http://shelburnemuseum.com/ . They have over 400 antique quilts in their collection and have put on some excellent exhibits. The current one is quilts by Florence Peto http://shelburnemuseum.com/about_us/...tail.php?id=73 Here is their current exhibition list, something for everyone...quilts, Tiffany glass, motorcycles, and more! :D http://shelburnemuseum.com/exhibits/#
