Bernette 340 comments please
Im considering buying a Bernette 340 emb. machine. I did online search for reviews but didn't find much and I knew board members would give me honest opinions. Thanks in advance for your help. Dianna

I worked in a sewing machine dealership many years ago (over ten!). At that time Bernina machines were wonderful; the Bernettes not so much, and would not be a machine I would buy even now. I believe Brother, Babylock and Janome are the current leaders for moderately priced embroidery machines.
I haven't read them, but here are some links to reviews on patternreviews.com: http://sewing.patternreview.com/Sewi.../Review/1/4887 http://sewing.patternreview.com/Sewi.../Review/1/4719 http://sewing.patternreview.com/Sewi.../Review/1/4465 (You can set up a free membership in order to read the older reviews.) |
That was my 1st emb machine. I loved it, but upgraded to a 640 because I wanted a larger than 5x7 hoop.

Thanks for responses! At prompt of Prism99 I looked around and wondering about Brother PE 770. Wish there was online comparison. Any opinions on the Brother machine? The online reviews are more positive and plentiful on the Brother machine. Any suggestions, comments?

If you haven't checked, the reviews of the Brother on Amazon are pretty good:
http://www.amazon.com/Brother-PE770-...dp/B002MQI2NM/ I always read the negative reviews, as I find I get more info from them. On this particular machine, the "most helpful" negative review is actually quite good; just be sure to click on the "comments" associated with that review to get the updates provided by the reviewer and the other comments. |
I own this embroidery machine and love it. I have sewn about 50 quilt labels and placed an embroidered logo on 60 hand towels without any problems. I have found the machine to be very dependable and easy to use. I have also imported designs into it using at the USB feature with no problems at all. I would highly recommend this machine.
