I took by Bernina 135 in to be cleaned and I was told I need to replace the bobbin case. It looks like their is a bobbin case available (for a lot less money) that is not made by Bernina. Does anyone have any experience with this?

It could be a great marketing ploy, but I've always thought that there weren't "generic" options when it comes to Bernina machines.

I was once quoted $55 retail for a bobbin for my 150 - and that was years ago.

Well, if your Bernina dealer who serviced the machine says it's alright to use the lower priced bobbin, even if it's not OEM, then go ahead and try it.

Just paid over $300 to have the bobbin case replaced in my Pfaff. That included labor and lubrication and cleaning. It sure works wonderfully now.

Did you get a new machine with that bobbin case, that sounds extremely high

It's a Pfaff. The parts are ridiculously high because there are no substitutes, I guess. Without the repair it is only a big heavy doorstop. It's the only repair I have had in 10 years so I can't complain and it's been used very hard. I sew anything I can get under the foot! This same repair man has cleaned and repaired a Feathrweight for $40. It needed a new bobbin case too. Also cleaned and adjusted a Babylock for about $45.00. All work perfectly now.

I kinda thought it worked the same with Bernina. Until I saw that $6 bobbin case. I might buy it just to see how good it is.
