Best darn scissors ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm left handed & I have every kind of scissors known to man, almost. For cutting yardage these are my all time favorite.
Wallpaper scissors, they cut fabric and paper. You get them at the paint supply stores for around $8.00 to $10.00.

These same scissors have served me well for 7 years! Never needs sharpening!!!

Don't even try to sharpen, the scissors marked for paper only is my attempt to sharpen a dent out of the cutting blade WHERE SOMEONE OTHER THAN ME...tried to cut wire, I'm guessing:mad::mad::mad:. They won't cut fabric now, but will cut paper perfectly.

Since there are just two of us living in this house, I'm watching him:shock::shock::shock:

Tartan 10-07-2012 06:05 AM

Oh Oh, someone's in the dog house!

Tashana 10-07-2012 08:09 AM

I guard my scissors like crazy. It became a family joke so my christmas stocking was stuffed with all kinds of scissors. You would think we can keep track of them...not so much. There is four of us in the house and I have grown a pair of eyes on the back of my head and still I find my scissors in the weirdest places (when I do not need them). I am seriously contemplating one of those baby locks with alarm for my sewing drawer.

teddysmom 10-07-2012 09:30 AM

I just bought myself a pair of Gingher's and dare anyone to use them for anything (including fabric).

gollytwo 10-07-2012 09:31 AM

What a neat idea - wallpaper scissors - thanks for the tip.

luvstoquilt 10-07-2012 10:29 AM

People know that to touch my scissors could result it amputation! GRRRRRR!

Beebee 10-07-2012 10:47 AM

I think you may have something there....Have some handed down from my mother...Me???(82)...AND they are still just as sharp and were never sharpened!!

CajunQuilter2 10-07-2012 10:51 AM

wow did not know there were scissors for wallpaper, I am gonna have to check it out. Thanks for the tip.

SewExtremeSeams 10-07-2012 11:08 AM

Great tip! Thanks!!!

tjradj 10-07-2012 02:23 PM

Tashana - skip the baby lock. Just buy a cheap combination padlock. Loop it though the handles and don't tell ANYONE else the combination.

lynnie 10-07-2012 03:19 PM

My bezt scissors are serrogated blade Mundial...only prob. No one carries them anymore. Great for slippery fabs too.

jemma 10-07-2012 06:10 PM

tie a pink ribbon on them[girl germs!!]

mary quilting 10-07-2012 06:13 PM

Make him go buy you some very expensive scissors. He will learn not to use them If he has to buy a few.

Sewnoma 10-07-2012 06:54 PM

Thank goodness my spouse leaves my scissors alone. Now if only he'd stop swiping my "sewing" lint roller!

spokanequilter 10-07-2012 07:27 PM

If someone else in this house were to cut something other than fabric with my Gingher's, I might have to do some cutting of my own..... if you know what I mean....);)

Pickles 10-07-2012 08:37 PM

Thank you so much for this Tip I'll be going and looking for a pair !

rebeljane 10-07-2012 11:39 PM

I have warned if anyone touches my sewing scissors I will cut their hands off lol

Teacup 10-08-2012 02:41 AM

Great idea! I need to get some scissors to do the larger rough cuts on fusible appliqe so I don't use my fabric scissors. I'll look next time I'm at the hardware/paint store.

zennia 10-08-2012 03:31 AM

Thank You for the good info. I to am a lefty so I will check and see if a store around here has them.

running1 10-08-2012 04:26 AM

Our guild program was brought by a LQS owner who sponsored a "Christmas in July" event and she hired a Santa to come... when he arrived it was with a black eye and some scrapes that were healing. When asked, "What happened???" he deadpanned, "I used my wife's sewing scissors to cut cardboard..." (he was actually in an small accident, but clearly got the laugh!!!)

maryfrang 10-08-2012 04:32 AM

Thanks for the tip. I have several good scissors. In fact on my notions wall I have old and new ones. My son came to visit and thought I had too many pairs. (not all are good ones, I have old ones of my mother in laws) So, if you need a pair at my house, you may just get some that are over 20 years old unless you are cutting fabric.

K'sKamper 10-08-2012 05:06 AM

My Gingher's are off limits to everyone as well. Have 3 pair now and have considered scheduling them on my Homeowners Insurance along with jewelry.

Thank you for the great tip.

DOTTYMO 10-08-2012 06:51 AM

Just had a light bulb moment for those in family groups. Put a small bell on the scissors and you will hear them walking away.

Country1 10-08-2012 06:57 AM

karate lady 10-08-2012 08:19 AM

Or buy a small metal tool box with a place to put a lock. Keeps predators out for sure.

purplefiend 10-08-2012 10:35 AM

years ago one of the males in my house cut wire with my favorite Ginghers....heads rolled! Of course nobody did it! I have since bought a couple other pairs in the flowery print Ginghers, they don't touch those, too girly.

Hylarie 10-08-2012 10:56 AM

We have tons of scissors hanging around, mostly for paper and one nice set for my fabric (so far). Then my DH bought a pair just for him to use on his projects. They showed up with a nick in them and he assumed I used them for cutting a wire or something! LOL as if I didn't know better. I'd be upset if he used my fabric pair for the same thing. So now we both keep an eye on each other I guess. :D

alwayslearning 10-08-2012 11:02 AM

Thanks for the tip. And my husband is a lefty. I'll just have to get him his own.

MamaInRed 10-08-2012 11:47 AM

I am going to go find a pair of these for back up's shears.

My husband & or kids have gotten hold of a few to many pairs of my sewing shears & rendered them use less for fabric. no amount of threats have stopped them. So now I never ever leave them in the sewing room where all the other shears are in plain view. They are well hidden & only come out when I am cutting out a project, then they are hidden away again.

jparsels 10-08-2012 12:58 PM

I've looked online and cannot find "wallpaper scissors"
Did find a manufacturer who takes minimum order of 6k?
What's the brand of your scissors?

caspharm 10-08-2012 05:31 PM

Sounds like a neat scissors. I may have to check them out.

My time 10-08-2012 05:42 PM

Didn't know such scissors exsisted. Thanks for sharing the tip

blueheavenfla 10-08-2012 06:35 PM

Those locks that you put on your suitcase when flying (TSA approved) would also work well. I think I'll stop in my local wallpaper store soon. Thanks.

Quiltaddiction 10-08-2012 06:50 PM

In my house everyone knows the unspoken rule "dont touch mums scissors or else!" I have paper and fabric scissors and one pair for everyone else.

DebbE 10-08-2012 06:58 PM

Where did you get wallpaper scissors? I suppose I could google it, but folks on this board know the best places to buy everything! What a price, too!!
