???Best scissors for cleaning up raw edge applique????
 

What type and brand of scissors do you recommend for cleaning up the edges of raw edge applique? I am just beginning to do this raw edge appliqueing and I guess the 'perfectionist' (:D) in me is not too happy with the frayed threads on the outside of the applique. I would like to get as close as possible and nip those threads down.

I use a tiny pair of manicure scissors for close in work .

I use the small Gingher curved blade sissors, (not the applique sissors). They get really close and I never have threads sticking out.

I use Gingher 6" applique scissors. Some, I think, call them duck bill scissors or some such.
JoAnn's has them on sale on website now.

I use my duckbill scissors or my tiny scissors and a GOOD LIGHT.....not time for a mistake !!!

I agree Deborahlees, it is not a time for mistakes.:D

I don't know what mine are called, but my LQS gave them to me when I bought my embroidery machine. They're tweezer type with a small very sharp curved blade at the end. They are fantastic! You can lay the edge of one blade under and up against the edge of the applique and when you have it - snip. I usually fold my applique against the edge a bit to help. But yes ... be careful!!

I'll try to take a picture of them tonight when I get home from work.

This is the type I use and are the best I have found for getting very close to the stitching.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a photo. I like the idea of squeezing those instead of putting my thumb and finger in loops.
