best white fabric

I am going to make a black and white quilt. I will need a good white for the background. I want to find something that is bright white, not too flimsy and won't let too much black show through when the seams are pressed. Can anyone steer me in the "white" direction?

Not, me. But, Good Luck!

I have not been able to find one to fit the ticket, sorry!

Kona Kaufman white is very nice. However, even using this fabric I think the black
would still show unless you press your seams open. Something to think about.

I like Moda solids. I have used the white and it is a nice weight and a bright white.

I have used Kona white. Worked for me, but you will have to watch how you press your seams. Either toward the black or open!

Kona is good.
I also like some of the RocLon ones. They have a cotton sheeting that is fabulous. I am using it for the applique I am starting.
White Solid from Legacy Studios is nice too - REALLY nice hand, opaque, tight weave.
Before you purchase all that you need, I would purchase a quarter yard and make some test blocks. I have been guilty of purchasing all of the fabric that I need, and then not being happy with the outcome.

I second the Kaufman Kona. Make sure it's Kaufman, though.

Thanks for all the good advice. I never thought of making test blocks, and I will experiment pressing the seams open.

Moda Bella solids. They are great!
