i also took in my 2 Carol Doak books (paper pieced stars and another paper piece book) and they cut the binding off, put put in holes for a 3 ring binder and put it into the binder, now my paper piece patterns are easy to use to make copies...and the cost? less than $10 for the binder and both books :) so much easier to use!

I've been in the process of doing this to all my quilt books also!

Thank you for posting this for those who missed it previously :D:D:D

Yup, it's a great way to keep those manuals in good shape. Plus the book will lay flat so it's easier to use. I still need to do a bunch of mine. Thanks for the reminder.

OK Ladies, where are you taking your books to be spiral bound?
I take mine to Office Max and it costs around $3.50. They cut the binding off and add the plastic covers. I've done the quilt block books like Around the Block and Block Magic books which I use quite frequently. I've also used colored plastic spirals so that books by the same author have the same color. Sure makes it easy to fold over the pages. The only downside is by removing the original binding you can't tell what the name of the book is on your shelf. So I don't want to have all of my books done, just the ones I use most often. |
