By coincidence, I saw a grandmother's flower garden in a book earlier today. The hexagons were trimmed slightly to create curves then bound with a very narrow binding. It had never occurRed to me to do it this way, but it really looked nice.

One of the reasons that I think it worked so well is that all the hexagons along the outside edge were white and the binding was also white. This technique could be used with any color fabric as long as all the outside hexagons are the same color.

Thanks for the tutorial sites. I'm almost finished with my top and have been pondering how to finish the edge. I didn't want to fill in with half hexies!

P.S. This is my first post. I am just finding my way around this forum and I get lost easily.

Hey, Kat! I am new to this board also, and having the same problem finding my way around! Welcome, and good luck on the GFG quilt. I also am working on one, too, which I hope to finish before I die!

LOL. If we finished the GFG before we die. You DO realize that we would have to start another one..Mine would be closer to finished, except.....I spend too much time on the computer and I do too many other quilting methods. We do love to have a WIP at every stage of completion. I am basting my 4100 hexes, but also trying to come up with a gorgeous, never-to-be forgotten design! I have EQ and the designing never stops. Thanks for writing. Kat
