Is there an easy way to bind quilts without handstitching? The reason I have so many quilt tops that are not done is because I have trouble stitching by hand. What I do at work uses my wrists enough. I would appreciate any help.

I have actually machine sewn the binding on.
I just pin it down and then use my walking foot. I set the side of the foot to follow the edge of the binding for some sort of control/keeping stitching straight.
I just use a pretty stitching to give it some sort of nice detailing.
That's what I'm thinking of doing with this heart quilt I am making.
I have a pattern on my machine that will do hearts and I think maybe doing hearts on the binding would look nice.

I never hand stitched. If I had to I wouldn't be sewing. I have joint disease in my hands and wrists and have had carpal tunnel in the past. That is factory works present to me. Anyway I buy the already packaged binding and I pin it on and use the walking foot like tirnhi does. Looks beautiful.

Factory work is giving me that present also. What I don't do to put my kids through school. lol
I will definately try machine sewing. I have several tops that I put off doing because of the hand sewing.

When I've put binding on by machine, I turn the folded edge to the back and pin in the ditch from the front. I pin very close together, making sure there is a little room on the back beyond the pin for the needle to catch. Then I stitch in the ditch on the front, removing pins as I get to them. I use my walking foot so it feeds more evenly through the machine. So far, if I go pretty slowly and don't remove the pins too soon, I've had good success with the binding being caught on the other side.

I hate doing anything that takes more time especially on a binding. What I do is sew the binding through all layers from the front and cut off the extra quilt materal in the seam allowance. Now the easy part. Turn your binding to the back and use the 1/4" "steam a seam". Place the tape between the the binding and quilt and iron. It holds it in place as you sew. Steam a seam is a trade name but any fusible that is 1/4" wide would do. Hope this helps
