Black Batting
I've just made a quilt with black background and bright colored design. Backing is also black. I thought you could buy black batting, but called some places and found out it's apparently not for sale any more. Haven't searched online yet, but wondered if anyone has done one and if you used regular white batting. Did it show through at all? I only use cotton normally. It's only about 32" square.

Ooops, should have searched first. I see that Hobbs does have black, and it's sold at Hancock's Paducah. Unfortunately, I only see queen size for $19.98, but still want to hear others' experience.

Check Connecting Threads.....I know I have gotten it from them. I like to use the dark batting so I don't get white beards coming through.

I bought a black twin size batting for our Jimmy's Ladder quilt. It also had black background, multi colors on the front, and a (mostly) black back. I got it from a LQS and I think it was Quilter's Dream brand.

I bought black on the internet. Can't remember where, but I've seen them on several sites lately while just looking around.

I bought black batting at JoAnns but according to them they don't carry it - go figure.

I have used hobbs black batting a few times- i prefer it in dark quilts- it is a nice batt to work with.

Thank you all. I've been looking around and see there are a number of good choices. I hate that shipping adds so much when you only want a single item, but will have to do it. Called JoAnn's and said they didn't have it, stopped at one with no luck, too. But interesting that you actually got some at one.
