Blizzard Quilt
 

I have the pattern for a blizzard quilt, but not a picture of what it looks like when it is finished. Any one have the picture of one? It is made with scraps. I need the picture.

Since it's scrappy, the lengths will differ, hmmmm...I can visualize how it sort of looks, but I think it's one of those things that you just let go of control and sew without worrying about the end result.

Something an instructor taught us once was to play with crayons, sometimes sketching it out and colouring it in is enough to help those that can't picture it in their head. Hope that helps,

When I am looking for specific pictures, I do a google search, but I click the image button..that way it brings up all the pictures..

the way I see that is that you put pieces together until you get the width and length you want. Not set design for waht it should look like.

I may be totally wrong, but for some reason I think of a blizzard quilt as being similar to this one. Bonnie Hunter calls this the String-X . http://quiltville.blogspot.com/2005/06/string-x.html

I think the directions I saw years ago had you sewing a long strip of the strings and then cutting them to length for your block.

From your previous post, someone posted this link - http://www.flickr.com/photos/indigocarole/2118689410/ - I think it is the best example of what the quilt might look like. It's just made up of scrappy rows of different heights, and within each row each "block" has a different width, depending on how much fabric you had of that block. Sort of like a jelly roll quilt, if the strips were all different widths and lengths, but the same width on each row (for easier sewing!). Sounds like a great way to use up scraps, and might work well for the back of a quilt as well as for the front.
