I have a Bernina 530-1 Record (an old treasure), and was cleaning and oiling the bobbin/shuttle area. I also removed the round plate behind the shuttle (it's round with a screw hole in the center). I reassembled everything in what seems to be the only possible way, but my bobbin case won't seat properly. When I turn the hand wheel, the bobbin case pops out. What am I doing wrong? I've posted this question on the ThirtySomething group, but thought I would also try here. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I have a Bernina[used] that I purchased a year ago, and the first time I cleaned the bobbin area, I had this problem, and after playing with it a few minutes, realized that the snap on the left that held it in place, wasn't totally snapped. So, now I know that I have to push it in with a little more effort, and listen for the second click. This may not be your problem, but that was what happened to me. Good luck with solving the problem.

If you aren't able to fix the problem soon, try asking on one of the vintage Bernina groups on Yahoo. Some of the people there seem to know *everything* about vintage Berninas!
