I bought this b4 I moved to Chile and LOVE it. Compared the others b4 I bought and this is the best IMO. (I had to know it was heavy duty and wouldn't cause trouble 4,000 miles away from it's home turf.)

Straight from a guy who was a tech on machines his whole life. Have both an HQ 16 LA that takes bigger commercial bobbins, had a Phaff, Brother,Singer and now overseas here on 220V I have a Janome as well. This works on them all smoothly and accurately. Love it. Takes AA batteries which last forever and means there is no cord to drag around and find a home for.

I love my bobbin winder but it doesn't work well using Bottom Line or Sew Fine thread. The thread is too fine and you wind up with a rat's nest. Works great on regular thread but I don't have a LA.

The sidewinder doesn't work on the Viking green bobbins, so its useless for my Viking Sapphire. Sometimes it won't wind my other bobbins tightly or evenly, so I seldom use it. This was a waste of money for me.

Which one do you have? Do you use it for the long arm bobbins?

I got one with my Nolting that winds the large bobbins. You might contact Nolting and see if their winder is compatible with the Bailey.

do you think the deluxe is good enough tension wise for regular sewing machines ?

I've had the sidewinder for years and never a problem and I couldn't be without it.

I use the Sidewinder Deluxe and it works well for all of my machines including my Viking and Elnas. With those bobbins I put them on upside down and fill them.

I bought the deluxe and really like it. I like to wind a bunch at once. I normally have several spools of the same colors and use those neutrals as my go to colors for piecing. I got one with my HQ Sweet Sixteen and it's nice for the M bobbins. I am thinking of going to some pre-wounds for colors I quilt with often. I like the So Fine, but I'm thinking of going toward the SuperBobs.
