Book suggestions on learning to free-motion quilt?
Hi, I was wondering if any of you have suggestions on a book or two that could teach me to free motion quilt. I can't afford to take classes, so I guess it's up to me, to practice, practice, practice and hopefully there is a book to help teach me the steps I need to take to help me be successful. Please only suggest books that have work well for you. Thanx millions. :)

I suggest any books by Harriet Hargrave or Diane Gaudynski or Sue Nickels...all are expert quilters!

I learned from this Harriet Hargrave book:
http://www.amazon.com/Heirloom-Machi...dp/999868871X/ Lots of photos and detailed explanations! Here is a link to the current edition of that book: http://www.amazon.com/Heirloom-Machi...dp/1571202366/ |
I also agree on Harriett Hargrave Heirloom Machine quilting and Diane Gaudynski Guide to Machine quilting. I learned a great deal from both. You should also go visit Leah Day's blog. She has tons of designs from easy to difficult and videos on how to quilt each one. http://www.freemotionquilting.blogspot.com/

I should read all the posts first! I just reposted (then edited out) what FelineFanatic just posted!
Great website! |
Yep, Harriet Hargrave. Diane Gaudynski as well.

My suggestions are the same as everyone else. Diane Gaudynski is my favorite, and she learned from Harriet Hargrave. The Leah Day vidoes are also great.
