Border Choices

I'm working on this lone star quilt, and I have a dilemma about the border. Would you frame the star (picture 1), or leave it floating in the background (picture 2)? If 1, what colour for the frame? (don't say pink - I am complete out of that fabric)

IF you border, try the orange. But I honestly like both ways. What will it be when finished? Maybe your answer will tell you which way to go.

It's a quilt for a twin bed. The border is so small, that it doesn't really make a difference that way. From a quilting perspective, I like the border because it will separate the corner stones from the outer purple border. But I'm not sure which looks best.

I agree with Sunnye... depending on how it's used once you've finished might factor into your decision.
Kind of like the green for a border around the star. OR, can your border be made like the strips at the top & bottom (minus the pink)? Sometimes I place different color fabrics around the quilt... then leave it for a while and come back to see which color strikes my fancy. Let us know what you decide.

**Krista, we were posting at the same time. I too prefer the border. :)

I like picture number one with the olive green

Actually, I lean towards the floating star, but the other is stunning too.

Float it and save your hard-earned points! IF you decide to frame it, leave at least 2 inches of float and then frame it. Much more eye-appealing in general.

I agree if you want to put a frame or border , put it out a few inches from the star.

I really like your quilt and the green border works great.

peace

EDIT: I really like the idea from JAN about floating the star a little before the border. Nice thought!

I like it floating on the dark background. Reminds me of a star in the night sky.
