Hi guys. Can anyone explain to me how I'm supposed to attach the button loop and the handles. To me it looked like the pattern was saying to attach it to the front of the fabric but wouldn't that look bad? The more I thought about it, the more i thought that it should be on the back of the front fabric so that it could be sandwiched between the front of the bag and the lining. . . Can someone explain this to me please.
Thanks!!
Jamie

You attach the handles and loops to the right side of the bag (make sure the button loop is attaced to the back NO POCKET side of the bag)When you sew the bag together the seam allowance is inside the bag. Read the rest of the instructions - steps 14 & 15 - let me know if it makes sense.

You do attach them to the front of the fabric so when you sew in the lining, the handles and the loop will come out the way they should. Once you turn your purse then top stitch around the top then your handles and loop a reinforced at the same time. You'll be fine. See what you do after you have the purse and lining done, you leave the lining wrong side and the purse right side out and then you put the purse inside the lining and then you sew around the top and then after that is done you pull the bag out through the opening in the bottom of the lining and then you push the lining down inside the purse and then you can hand stitch or maching stitch the opening closed and make a hard bottom for it . Good luck, Huggies, Fay

Can you answer one more question for me. . .How far down on the fabric do I put the loop and the handles?

Thanks so much!

I put mine around 3/8th of inch down

For the handles I cut the width down to 4.5 (from the directions of 5) folded it into fourths and put a strip of webbing into it for stability. Stitch up both sides. Worked well.

Thanks. I put it right against the edge of the fabric and I was getting worried that it was wrong.

My first one I put the handles right at the edge like the diagram shows, but they pulled out so I moved them up about an inch and then after sewing in the lining and pulling it right side I top stitched the top of the bag there for the handles got stitched in good. I would do the same for the loop. In fact I tacked mine on the outside of the bag instead of pinning them and then stitched in the lining. Good luck, Huggies, Fay

OK, another question for you wonderful ladies. . .can someone explain how to do step # 13. I traced the square templates but the next step has me really confused lol. I'm completely lost and I have no idea what they are talking about. Please feel free to put it in the most basic terms. I'm really new to all of this so I definitely won't be offended if you give me the idiots version ;-)
