HELP! I need to whip out a baby blanket for a girl at work this weekend. Not a big deal - but I am having a really hard time with a good quick pattern. Any suggestions???
I think I am really stuck on this boy thing - I can pick girl fabric no problem - pink/flowers/pretty . . boys are all trucks and balls. . .any ideas?? |
Primary colors, red, blue, yellow, green make a great bright boys quilt. The 4 patch like the Quilt for Kids pattern is quick, easy, and looks great!

I have done a modified Rail fence up really quickly using the colors that erstan947 mentioned.
Three strips across (2 1/2" each)cut to 6 1/2" add one across the top of them (2 1/2" x 6 1/2") makes a 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" block. Alternate with a 6 1/2" by 8 1/2" square to make rows to the width you want. Switch up the placement in each row, adding rows to reach the length you want. Border with a 3 or 4" strip of a coordinate material and bind! |

This little guy is on one I made for him.
Hi mom said he hates the camera...not the quilt I sure hope so :-) |
Get a panel and frame it out with borders ?
Mickey Mouse- primary colors - Winnie the Pooh - what is the nursey being set up with ? |
Dinosaurs? Just color blocks, using solids, stripes, tonals, etc?
|
Frogs, turtles, dogs, jungle animals would all be nice. D9P is very quick.

Check out the pre-quilted panels.
Easy to just add a ruffle or contrasting binding all around |
Boys, that's my specialty! Three sons. I'd suggest anything with animals, bugs, fish, vehicles, dinosaurs or cartoon characters. If you want to stay away from a specific theme, use solids in primary colors and toss in a little brown. Boys love brown.
Couple years ago I whipped out several baby quilts using 2 1/2 strips in a log cabin pattern. Cute, easy, fast. |
I TOTALLY cheated and got a panel from Joanns. . .pictures to follow - it won't take long now.
Thanks for all the advise!! |
